What a North Lakes garden actually asks for
North Lakes is a master-planned community, and most of its homes were built in the last twenty-odd years on similar-sized lots. The houses vary; the yards they came with mostly do not — a builder’s lawn, a fence and a slab at the back door.
That sameness is the opportunity. Two neighbours with the same house on the same size block can end up with gardens that have nothing in common, and that is exactly the brief Duncan likes best.
New-estate ground often needs work before anything is built on it. Compacted fill, thin topsoil and drainage set out for the house rather than the garden are typical, and they are far cheaper to fix at the start than after the lawn goes down.
No two gardens the same
Designed for this block, not copied from the last one
On an estate the risk is a garden that looks like every other one in the street. Duncan starts from how you want to use the space — entertaining, kids, privacy from the neighbours’ windows — and designs a yard that could only belong to your house.
Smaller lots need every metre to work. Screening, built-in seating, planters and lighting do most of the heavy lifting, and they are designed and built by the same person, so nothing is left for a second trade to interpret. If your street has estate design guidelines, they are checked before the front garden is planned.
Budget
Before you call
This is design-led landscape construction, not a mowing round. There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job — but the process is built so you know the number before you commit.
01
Budget first
Tell Duncan what you are comfortable investing. It is the fastest route to a concept that is actually buildable, and it is why he asks before he draws.
02
Then a concept
A unique landscape concept sketched on paper, with costings and an approximate time frame in writing. You see the garden and the number together.
03
Then you decide
Build only if you are happy with the paper. The work can be staged — plenty of gardens start as one wall, one path or one planted bed.

Yes. North Lakes is inside the area Simply Intreeging covers across Brisbane and Moreton Bay. Duncan is based in Dayboro and travels for design and construction work. If you are not certain you are in range, call 0431 024 000 and ask.
Yes — that is the point of designing it. Built-in seating, screening, planters and lighting are worked out together so the space feels bigger, more private and unlike the yards either side. The concept is designed to your budget and can be built in stages.

Duncan Scott. The person who designs the garden is the person who builds it — not a salesperson, and not a subcontractor you have never met. He has been building gardens in south-east Queensland since 2000, and holds a Queensland builder licence for structural landscaping (1161156).
