Landscaping Hamilton

Landscape design and construction in Hamilton.

Riverside character homes, and blocks that fall toward the water.

Brisbane inner north · 4007

What a Hamilton garden actually asks for

Hamilton runs along the Brisbane River, and much of its housing is older character stock — Queenslanders and substantial interwar homes on the rise above the water. A garden here is expected to sit comfortably beside a house that has been there a long time.

A lot of the suburb is on a slope. Blocks that step down toward the river need their levels resolved before anything else: retaining, terraced lawns and steps that make a falling yard somewhere you use rather than something you look down on.

Outlook matters too. A good Hamilton garden frames the view instead of competing with it, keeping screening and planting low where the view is the point and using it where privacy from the street or the neighbours is.

No two gardens the same

Designed for this block, not copied from the last one

Character homes do not suit a garden pulled from a catalogue. Duncan reads the house first — its age, its materials and how the rooms open to the outside — and designs walls, paving and planting that look as if they belong to it.

On a sloping riverside block the design and the build are hard to separate. Because the person who draws the levels is the person who builds them, the plan can be adjusted on site when the ground says otherwise, with no hand-off in between. Some Brisbane streets carry character overlays that affect what can be built at the front; those are checked before anything is finalised.

How Duncan designs a garden

Budget

Before you call

This is design-led landscape construction, not a mowing round. There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job — but the process is built so you know the number before you commit.

01

Budget first

Tell Duncan what you are comfortable investing. It is the fastest route to a concept that is actually buildable, and it is why he asks before he draws.

02

Then a concept

A unique landscape concept sketched on paper, with costings and an approximate time frame in writing. You see the garden and the number together.

03

Then you decide

Build only if you are happy with the paper. The work can be staged — plenty of gardens start as one wall, one path or one planted bed.

Questions

Landscaping in Hamilton

Yes. Hamilton is inside the area Simply Intreeging covers across Brisbane and Moreton Bay. Duncan is based in Dayboro and travels for design and construction work. If you are not certain you are in range, call 0431 024 000 and ask.

Yes. Retaining and terracing sloping blocks is a large part of the work, and Duncan holds a Queensland builder licence for structural landscaping (1161156). Walls over about a metre, or walls carrying a load above them, generally need building approval — your certifier confirms the specifics for your block.

There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job. After the on-site consultation you receive a concept with costings and an approximate time frame in writing, before you commit to anything. Tell Duncan the budget you are comfortable with and the concept is designed to it — and the work can be staged.

Duncan Scott. The person who designs the garden is the person who builds it — not a salesperson, and not a subcontractor you have never met. He has been building gardens in south-east Queensland since 2000, and holds a Queensland builder licence for structural landscaping (1161156).
