What a Ferny Hills garden actually asks for
Ferny Hills is steep and established, sitting against the D'Aguilar range. Slope is the defining condition, and gardens here are largely won or lost on how well the level changes are handled.
Terracing does the heavy lifting. Two or three retaining walls that create genuinely flat, usable areas will transform a Ferny Hills backyard far more than any amount of planting on the slope itself.
Access is the counterweight. Many blocks here are difficult to get machinery into, which is a real cost input and one worth knowing about before the design is drawn rather than after.
Budget
Before you call
This is design-led landscape construction, not a mowing round. There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job — but the process is built so you know the number before you commit.
01
Budget first
Tell Duncan what you are comfortable investing. It is the fastest route to a concept that is actually buildable, and it is why he asks before he draws.
02
Then a concept
A unique landscape concept sketched on paper, with costings and an approximate time frame in writing. You see the garden and the number together.
03
Then you decide
Build only if you are happy with the paper. The work can be staged — plenty of gardens start as one wall, one path or one planted bed.

Duncan Scott. The person who designs the garden is the person who builds it — not a salesperson, and not a subcontractor you have never met. He has been building gardens in south-east Queensland since 2000, and holds a Queensland builder licence for structural landscaping (1161156).
