What an Ashgrove garden actually asks for
Ashgrove is Queenslander country on the Taylor Range foothills, and both halves of that matter. The houses sit high on stumps, and the blocks slope, so the usable garden is often a level that has to be created rather than one that already exists.
The classic Ashgrove brief is the under-house and rear-yard reset: retain, level, pave a terrace that relates to the stairs, and plant to screen the neighbours. Done properly it adds a room to the house.
Access is the constraint that shapes the budget. Many Ashgrove blocks offer nothing better than a narrow side path, which means stone, soil and spoil move by barrow. That is a real cost, and it is worth knowing at design stage.
Budget
Before you call
This is design-led landscape construction, not a mowing round. There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job — but the process is built so you know the number before you commit.
01
Budget first
Tell Duncan what you are comfortable investing. It is the fastest route to a concept that is actually buildable, and it is why he asks before he draws.
02
Then a concept
A unique landscape concept sketched on paper, with costings and an approximate time frame in writing. You see the garden and the number together.
03
Then you decide
Build only if you are happy with the paper. The work can be staged — plenty of gardens start as one wall, one path or one planted bed.

Duncan Scott. The person who designs the garden is the person who builds it — not a salesperson, and not a subcontractor you have never met. He has been building gardens in south-east Queensland since 2000, and holds a Queensland builder licence for structural landscaping (1161156).
