What a Newport garden actually asks for
Newport is a canal estate on the Redcliffe peninsula, and most of its houses face the water. The back garden is often the part everybody sees — from the pontoon, from the houses across the canal and from every boat that goes past.
Salt air changes the material list. Stone, hardwood and fixings have to be chosen for a coastal setting, and planting has to cope with wind and salt rather than just look good in the nursery.
Canal blocks are generally flat, with ground that is often sandy and built up, and a wall at the water’s edge. Drainage, levels and how the garden meets that edge are the details that decide whether it works.
No two gardens the same
Designed for this block, not copied from the last one
Waterfront gardens drift toward the same formula: a strip of lawn, a palm or two, glass fencing. Duncan designs the other way round, starting with how you use the water side of the house and building outdoor rooms, seating and lighting around that.
Because he builds what he draws, the decisions that matter most on the coast — which stone, which timber, which plants will take the salt — stay with one person from the first sketch to handover.
Budget
Before you call
This is design-led landscape construction, not a mowing round. There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job — but the process is built so you know the number before you commit.
01
Budget first
Tell Duncan what you are comfortable investing. It is the fastest route to a concept that is actually buildable, and it is why he asks before he draws.
02
Then a concept
A unique landscape concept sketched on paper, with costings and an approximate time frame in writing. You see the garden and the number together.
03
Then you decide
Build only if you are happy with the paper. The work can be staged — plenty of gardens start as one wall, one path or one planted bed.

Questions
Landscaping in Newport
Yes. Newport is inside the area Simply Intreeging covers across Brisbane and Moreton Bay. Duncan is based in Dayboro and travels for design and construction work. If you are not certain you are in range, call 0431 024 000 and ask.
It depends on how exposed the garden is. A garden facing open water needs tougher, wind- and salt-tolerant planting than one sheltered behind the house. Plants are chosen for the position as part of the concept, with plant images on hand so you can see what you are choosing.
There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job. After the on-site consultation you receive a concept with costings and an approximate time frame in writing, before you commit to anything. Tell Duncan the budget you are comfortable with and the concept is designed to it — and the work can be staged.
