Landscape Design & Consultancy

Land meets art. No matter what style of garden you’re after, the idea is to integrate the spaces and show an effortless flow between the hard and soft elements of your home and garden.

It starts with a couple of hours discussing your garden preference, material wish list and budget. From that a unique landscape concept is developed — every element you discussed, with costings and an approximate time frame for completion.

It gets sketched down on paper. That’s a great start for people who can’t quite visualise the idea they’re after — and it removes the headache of briefing unskilled contractors, and the budget blowouts that follow.

  • On-site consultation
  • Concept sketched on paper
  • Costings and a time frame
  • Stone samples and plant images to choose from

Stone Walls & Planter Boxes

Whether your requirements are for a stunning retro stone feature wall or a modern outdoor paved space, we can create a special place for you with a wide selection of natural stone — limestone, travertine, granite, bluestone, or from one of the main brands in the yards today.

With lighting as an option, these spaces transform into an ambient place at night to entertain friends and family.

As part of the design service a selection of stone samples is available, together with a vast array of plant images, to make your choice as easy as possible.

Paving & Pathways

A path is the line that tells you how to move through a garden. Done well you never notice it; done badly it is the only thing you notice.

Sandstone and bluestone crazy paving, travertine around pools, cut stepping stones through lawn, and hardwood sleeper runs bedded into mondo grass — laid to fall, laid to last.

Decks, Screens & Structures

The built parts of a garden do the heavy lifting — they make a courtyard private, a slope usable, a back door somewhere you actually want to sit.

Hardwood and composite decking, pergolas and roofing over outdoor areas, custom gate fabrication, and decorative laser-cut screening that throws a pattern across the ground as the sun moves.

Feature Plantings

A garden needs to be engaging, and draw you in. Creating a garden with unique, special-interest plants and hardscapes creates a theatrical flow and makes it stand out from the rest.

We can source from all states that unique feature plant, tree or palm — from small right through to ex-ground size — that will make your garden truly different.

Tropical, native, formal or retro. The planting is chosen to suit the aspect, the soil and how you actually use the space.

Garden Care & Maintenance

A designed garden is not a finished object. It grows into the shape the design intended, and it holds that shape only if someone who understands the intent keeps their hand on it.

Maintenance is available for the gardens we build — pruning and shaping, replacement planting, irrigation checks, mulch top-ups and seasonal tidy-ups. Talk to Duncan about what your garden needs and how often.

Questions

The questions people actually ask.

Based in Dayboro, working across Dayboro, Samford, Moreton Bay and across Brisbane’s inner north — Ashgrove, Grange, Nundah and surrounds. If you’re not sure whether you’re in range, call 0431 024 000 and ask.

There is no list price, because no two gardens are the same job. What you get instead is certainty: after the on-site consultation you receive a concept with costings and an approximate time frame in writing, before you commit to anything. Tell Duncan the budget you’re comfortable with and the concept is designed to it.

No. Plenty of jobs start as one feature wall, one path or one planted bed. A concept plan is useful precisely because it lets you build in stages without the second stage fighting the first.

A couple of hours on site going through your garden preferences, a material wish list and your budget. Stone samples and plant images are on hand so you can see and touch the options rather than imagine them.

A unique landscape concept sketched on paper, incorporating everything discussed, with costings and an approximate time frame for completion. It’s built for people who can’t easily visualise an idea from a description.

Duncan Scott. The person who designs the garden is the person who builds it — not a salesperson, and not a subcontractor you have never met. He has been building gardens in south-east Queensland since 2000.

Real turf laid over new under-turf soil looks and feels best, and with fully programmable irrigation it stays lush without you thinking about it. Synthetic makes sense for deep shade, tight courtyards, or if you genuinely never want to mow again. Both are available.

Yes — a lot of the work is exactly that. Retaining in stone or hardwood sleepers, cut-in steps, and paths that make a slope usable instead of wasted.

Yes, and it’s worth doing. Lighting is designed into stone walls, water features and planting from the start, so the garden is still worth looking at after dark.

Limestone, travertine, granite and bluestone, plus the ranges carried by the main stone yards. Samples form part of the design service so you choose from the real material.

It depends entirely on scope — a feature wall is days, a full demolish and rebuild is weeks. You get an approximate time frame in writing with the concept and costings, before you commit.

Yes. Duncan holds a Queensland builder licence for structural landscaping (1161156), an Associate Applied Science of Horticulture and a Certificate in Commercial Art. ABN 60 098 754 684, trading since 2000.
